Less than a mile away, Medieval, Tudor, Georgian, Regency and Victorian buildings combine to make Ruthin one of the most interesting historic market towns in North Wales. The imposing castles established by Edward I at Rhuddlan and Denbigh are just minutes away as well as Britain’s smallest ancient cathedral at St Asaph.

Out and About in the Vale of Clwyd



The Clwydian Range is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Vale of Clwyd is the perfect destination for walking, cycling or for a more gentle stroll. The Horseshoe Pass offers spectacular walks with striking views across the Vale and some of the best mountain biking to suit all abilities can be found at Llandegla Forest. And, of course, there is the Offa’s Dyke Path which follows the spectacular dyke built by King Offa of Mercia in the eighth century. Here’s one example:
